Many insurance companies cover all or most of the cost of in-person or telehealth nutrition appointments with me.

I accept and bill Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Harvard Pilgrim, Harvard Pilgrim Health Plans, and Tufts. 

For other insurance plans, I offer private pay options and can provide you with an invoice (aka "super bill") for you to submit to your insurance company.

Coverage does vary by plan, so please call your plan. Ask all of the following questions:

A) Does your plan cover appointments with a registered dietitian? (You must use the words "registered dietitian" as our training is more extensive and therefore covered by many insurance plans.)

If no, please contact me about private pay options.

If yes, ask the following questions:

B) Will your plan cover the following types of appointments? (Ask about each one, even if you plan on only one kind of appointment.)

a) In-person (face-to-face) visits
b) Telehealth appointments where we can see each other via live, secure internet 
c) Telephone appointments

C)  Is Lisa Garcia (NPI# 1568713089) or Food Coach LLC (NPI# 1063826444) included in your network?  (If they say I am not, and your insurance is one of the companies listed at the top of this page, please contact me so I can investigate.  Some insurance companies have database issues.)

D) Are there any limits on the number of visits? If yes, when does this limit reset?
Note: Some plans will give you different answers depending on your conditions. You may want to ask if this changes based on other health conditions.

E) Do you need a referral from your primary care provider (PCP)?

F) Is there a copay for your visit or any co-insurance due? What is it?

G) If there is a copay, does the amount change for a telehealth visit instead of an in-person visit?

H) Do you need to meet a deductible before the insurance will pay for your visit? Does this change for a telehealth visit instead of an in-person visit?
