Lisa Garcia Is ready to answer your questions

Each insurance company offers many different plans.  The best way to find out if my services are covered is to call the member services number on your card and ask these questions

If my services are not covered, please see the “How much will it cost to work with you” FAQ below.

At this time I do not take Medicare, Medicaid or WellSense.

Many insurance plans cover in-person appointments with me.  Some may even cover virtual appointments with me.
If your plan does not, the cost of the getting started package is $255 for either in my office or a virtual session.  Follow up sessions range from $80 to $160.

During your “getting started” session we’ll explore your goals, history, current situation, the foods you like, dislike, and those you want to keep eating.  We’ll also explore your eating, cooking, and exercise habits.  As part of my coach approach, I need to understand you, your life, and your preferences. Don’t worry – I will NOT judge you regardless of what you tell me!

I’ll make recommendations about things that you should keep doing and things you may want to consider changing.   We will then discuss how you would like to proceed and possible options for you going forward.
You’ll leave the session having chosen some things you want to start working on and with techniques and tips to help you go from wanting to change to making those changes happen.

We can also discuss what private pay options may work for your situation during your free 15-minute telephone discovery call.

I specialize in working with adults who have weight-related issues and gut health issues.  Please see my services page for more information and then if you still have questions, book a free 15-minute discovery call with me.

If you have just been diagnosed with an eating disorder, or are being treated for one, or have just been discharged from a treatment program for an eating disorder, I am not the right dietitian for you.  If you have been successfully in recovery for more than a year, please book a free 15-minute discovery call with me to see if I am the right fit for you.

Yes! In addition to seeing people in my office, I offer virtual sessions via the internet depending on what state you live in. Contact me, tell me your zip code and we can discuss if this option will work for you.

Yes!

Couples sessions are possible in some situations.  Please book a free 15-minute discovery call with me to discuss this.

I do work with families depending on the ages of the children and the situation.  Please book a free 15-minute discovery call with me to see if I am the right fit for you and your family.

I do not specialize in pediatrics but do sometimes work with teenagers depending on the circumstances.  If you are the parent or guardian of a teen who may benefit from my services, please book a free 15-minute discovery call with me to see if I am the right fit for your teen.

A $50 fee is due for any missed appointments or appointments that are changed or canceled without at least 24 hours advance notice by telephone or email. Until this fee is paid, any future appointments cannot be scheduled and ones already scheduled will be canceled.  Food Coach LLC may, at its discretion, waive this fee due to weather events or other limited circumstances.

That depends on your circumstances and how you decide you would like to proceed. This is something we can discuss during our free 15-minute discovery call.

An “RDN”  or an “RD” is a registered dietitian nutritionist. This is a national certification that means I am a nutrition expert with extensive training in biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, nutrition-related medical conditions,  food science, and nutrition counseling techniques. All dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians.

In order to become a dietitian a person must have a bachelor's degree in nutrition science (I have a master’s degree), have successfully completed a competitive and demanding supervised internship with at least 1200 hours of practice that takes about 10 months to complete, passed a rigorous comprehensive national examination, and continue to meet the national accreditation standards including ongoing required professional education.

My coach approach gives you knowledge, encouragement and support, helps you overcome the barriers that get in your way, and enables you to work with your body instead of against it.

I help you understand your body science – the many hormones and chemicals and processes that are at work in your body, your metabolism, your gut microbiome – and how they adapt to different circumstances and change as you age and deal with various health conditions you may have or be at risk of.

You’ll learn to interpret what your body is really trying to tell you. You’ll also learn which foods to eat and how to prepare them in easy and enjoyable ways so that you can eat out with confidence and avoid being tricked by packages in the grocery store and the latest fad diet or product.

Unlike diets which are a “one size fits all” approach and not unique to you, my coach approach is entirely customized to you, your health, your likes, and dislikes. Together we’ll identify what you’re already doing right and what you may want to change. I’ll also help you understand how to avoid the biology versus willpower competition and how to avoid inappropriately triggering your body’s immune system or other defensive mechanisms.

Unlike diets, which focus on deprivation and often result in short-term weight loss followed by weight regain, my coach approach focuses helping you build long-term, sustainable habits that can keep you on track even after you stop working with me.

Another difference is that with my coach approach I want you to enjoy food! I help you discover which foods can make you feel great and work with your body.  I also help you learn how to choose and prepare meals and snacks that fit your goals as well as your preferences, schedule and life.

If you want an approach that’s designed just for you, do something different: ditch the diet and work with me!

Yes, I can help you learn how to avoid what makes you feel bad, avoid nutrient deficiencies, and discover foods you can eat so you can enjoy eating. Arrange your free 15-minute discovery call today!

In some cases, I may recommend a FODMAP approach.  In other cases, I may recommend another type of dietary approach including different elimination diets depending on your symptoms, conditions, and history.

A regained life

Finding Lisa was a life changer for me. I came to Lisa confused and overwhelmed with questions after having struggled with food sensitivities and a new diagnosis of EoE (Eosinophilic Esophagitis). Lisa was able to help me put together all of the pieces and come up with an actionable plan that included
getting to the bottom of what was causing my issues, rather than just depending on medication to cover up the symptoms.
